Gaestehaus Salzburg has offered serenity and a peaceful atmosphere to travelers for over 20 years. We have tried to answer as many questions as possible. Each cabin is equipped with a Booklet giving information on local restaurants, things to do in the area, shopping, special upcoming events, and interesting history on Chimney Rock Park and Lake Lure. As we are a haven for many couples away from the hustle and bustle of the frantic business world, we ask that all Guests respect the privacy of their neighbors with "quiet time" after 10 p.m.
Q. What time is check in? Check out?
A. Check in time is 3:00 – 8:00 pm. Unless other arrangements have been made. Check out time is 11:00 am. An automatic extra day charge will be added to credit cards on all late check-outs as we require adequate time to clean cabins to accommodate the next guests.
Q. Can I bring pets?
A. We do NOT accept pets. Please leave yours at home as we have two very friendly dogs that roam the property. Guests who arrive with pets will be charged full rate, as a cancellation. (Please do not feed our dogs or let them in the pool area or your cabins).
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. Gaestehaus Salzburg requires a minimum of 14 days’ notice of cancellation, or you will be charged for your entire reservation. Reservations for Holidays or Holiday Weekends cannot be cancelled (no exceptions). “NO SHOW” will be charged for entire reservation booked. An Administrative fee of 15% will be charged to all cancellations.
Q. What is your policy with respect to children?
A. Children are welcome in the Austrian Cottage, Blue Bird Cabin, Vienna, and Munich Studios. Children are not allowed in the Chickadee or Edelweiss Cabin. Children must be well supervised at all times and respect the rights of our other guests. For safety and health risks, children are not allowed in the Whirlpool Tub or Sauna. The additional person charge applies to children 6 years and older.
Q. Is smoking permitted?
A. Smoking is permitted outdoors only. Absolutely no smoking or use of any type of tobacco products inside rooms (including vapor) Guests will be evicted under the NC Quick eviction Act and charged for their full reservation, plus a $350 dollar charge for steam cleaning and sanitizing. We encourage all smokers to use the ashtrays provided and not litter cigarettes on the grounds.
Q. Can we invite family (friends) to the Pool and Whirlpool Tub?
A. The Pool and Whirlpool Tub are for REGISTERED GUESTS ONLY. For the safety of our guests we do not allow non-registered guest inside this enclosed area. The Whirlpool tub is for adults only. All North Carolina rules are posted and must be observed. Absolutely no glass containers are allowed inside the gates. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We ask that all guests be respectful of other guest with no rough housing, loud screaming or loud music. Pool hours are 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and then it is “quiet time” for adults only.
Q. Can I book for one night only?
A. We do not encourage a one night stay as you cannot benefit from the full range of things to do in the area. However, we understand needing “down time” from your hectic lifestyle and will allow one nights from time to time with a $25.00 “UP CHARGE”. This will be between other bookings where there is free space between reservations.
Q. Do all cabins have TV and WI-FI?
A. All cabins have Direct TV in the Living Room only. There are no TV’s in the bedrooms. Free WI-FI is throughout the property. We are located on a hill so usually get good cell phone reception, however reception is sporadic in most of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Weather can affect reception of WiFi and Direct TV, and we are not responsible for outages beyond our control. There are no phones in any cabin.
Q. Which cabins have Jacuzzi tubs or Hot Tubs?
A. All King rooms have double Jacuzzi bathtubs. We have an in-ground swimming pool and Whirlpool tub that is centrally located for all registered guests. The Whirlpool Tub is heated by propane which is not efficient and breaks easily. Jets will continue to work and the Sun usually keeps the water temperature around 92 degrees. We are looking at an alternative heat source and therefore do not advertise a Hot Tub.
Q. Do you allow Motorcycles?
A. Gaestehaus Salzburg is on a private hillside with an up-hill gravel driveway which can easily throw driver and passenger. If you want to ride your motorcycle, we ask that you respect the rights of other guests with no loud mufflers or loud music.
Q. Can I bring a Motorhome, trailer, or Boat?
A. We do have adequate parking, but Vehicles that have low clearance may find the driveway not satisfactory for their needs. Boat Owners must purchase a permit from the Town Marina and follow all rules and regulations. Extreme caution must be observed when entering or pulling out of driveway onto Memorial Highway as Lake Lure roads have many blind curves.
Q. Are there charcoal grills or can I bring mine?
A. We offer a beautiful outdoor dining area with charcoal grill, tables, and fire pit centrally located by the swimming pool. No other grills are allowed on porches, in or near any cabin. All grills must be emptied into the grated fire pit. We are surrounded by natural forestry and the risk of fires is great so we must ask everyone’s cooperation and absolutely no bonfires or other burning allowed, (including fireworks or firearms).
Q. Do all cabins have heat and air conditioning? Fireplace?
A. All cabins have Heat pumps and A/C and for added comfort we have ceiling fans in every cabin. The four King rooms have gas fireplaces.
Q. Are there any unadvertised specials or packages?
A. Gaestehaus Salzburg offers a Retired Seniors (over 65) 10% discount ON A 3 DAY STAY. Also, if you are ACTIVE military and returning from duty overseas we offer a 10% discount as a thank you for your service. From time to time we may run a special midweek discount of 3 nights stay and 4th night 50% off or a “complimentary first morning breakfast”. For Bookings of three or more cabins for weddings, family reunions, etc.; please phone us for a customized pricing deal and a larger discount when the whole facility is reserved. We also offer discounted weekly and monthly rentals.
Q. What should we bring with us?
A. Linens are supplied in each cabin and an amenities basket. Coffee is provided the first morning. Limited Pool towels are provided. The Grocery store is a 5 minute drive, and there are two gas stations in our area. Although we try to equip the kitchens, you may want to bring your favorite cooking or serving items, and your own pool towels. For the safety of our guests, we do not supply condiments in the kitchens as these may become contaminated.
